IRS Releases 2022 Qualified Benefit Plan Limits

In IRS Notice 2021-45, the IRS announced the following new qualified benefit contribution limits for 2022:
Flexible Spending Accounts
- Healthcare Flexible Spending Account - $2,850 (increase of $100)
- Flexible Spending Account Carryover Maximum - $570 (if applicable; increase of $20)
- Dependent Daycare Account - $5,000 (no change)
- Adoption Assistance - $14,890 (increase of $450)
Commuter Benefit Accounts
- Parking Benefit - $280 (increase of $10)
- Transit Benefit - $280 (increase of $10)
Previously in May 2021 in IRS Notice 2021-25, the IRS announced the following HSA limits for 2022:
Health Savings Accounts
Maximum Contribution Amount
- Individual - $3,650 (increase of $50)
- Family - $7,300 (increase of $100)
- Catch-up (age 55+) - $1,000 (no increase)
Maximum Out-of-Pocket Expense Limit
- Individual - $7,050 (increase of $50)
- Family - $14,100 (increase of $100)
Minimum Health Plan Deductible Limit
- Individual - $1,400 (no change)
- Family - $2,800 (no change)
